About This Tour

Three of the most iconic destinations in the Lisbon region — in one day, with a group small enough to actually enjoy them. Sintra's fairy-tale Pena Palace. Cascais' elegant Atlantic coastline. And Belém, where Portugal's Age of Discovery left its most extraordinary monuments — and its most famous pastry.

You'll skip the queue at Pena Palace and explore the extraordinary exterior and gardens with a guide who brings the history to life — the eccentric king who built it, the Moorish and Manueline architecture, and the views stretching to the sea. Then south along the Estoril Coast to Cascais, a town that managed to attract European royalty in exile during WWII and still has that understated elegance. Then Belém — where Vasco da Gama set sail for India — to see the Belém Tower on the Tagus, the UNESCO-listed Jerónimos Monastery, and to stop at the original Pastéis de Belém bakery (open since 1837) for a warm pastel de nata fresh from the oven.

Maximum 8 guests. Real guide. Real stories. Your ECO travelling friend in Lusitan lands.

Tour Itinerary

08:30 — Departure
Pickup — Central Lisbon
We collect you from the Marquês de Pombal area in our 8-seat air-conditioned minivan. Exact coordinates are sent via WhatsApp after booking.
~09:30 — Stop 1
Pena Palace — Sintra (1h 30min)
Skip-the-line entry to the exterior and terraced gardens of Pena Palace, one of the most photographed palaces in Europe. Your guide covers the history, the architectural symbolism, and the stories behind every tile. The views over the Serra de Sintra and out to the Atlantic are extraordinary. Palace interior entry is optional (approx €14, payable on site).
~11:15 — Stop 2
Sintra Village — UNESCO Historic Centre (45min free)
Free time in Sintra's cobblestoned UNESCO village — narrow streets, local pastry shops (try the travesseiro), independent boutiques, and the kind of corners that make you reach for your camera every ten steps.
~12:15 — Stop 3
Cascais — Free Time (1 hour)
Arrive in elegant Cascais along the Estoril Coast — a seaside town where Portuguese royalty and WWII exiles once mingled. Explore the seafront promenade, browse the weekly market, or find a terrace café for a light lunch (own cost). Your guide can recommend the best spots.
~14:00 — Stop 4
Belém — Tower, Monastery & Pasteis (2 hours)
Guided visit to the Belém Tower on the banks of the Tagus — the Gothic-Manueline masterpiece built to defend Lisbon's harbour. Then to the Jerónimos Monastery, where Vasco da Gama's tomb lies and where the style reaches its peak. Then the main event: warm pastéis de nata at the original Pastéis de Belém bakery, open since 1837. Interior monastery entry is optional (approx €10, payable on site).
~17:30 — Return
Return to Central Lisbon
Short return drive to the original departure point in central Lisbon. Belém is within Lisbon, so the return is quick and easy.

Your ECO Travelling Friend In Lusitan Lands

We keep groups at 8 people maximum — a fraction of the footprint of a 40-seat coach tour. Every partner we work with is a local business: local guides, local drivers, local bakeries. The Pastéis de Belém you taste on this tour have been made in the same Belém neighbourhood since 1837 — that's the kind of tradition worth supporting.

What Travellers Say

Chloe W. — Canada
Google Review
★★★★★

"Three completely different places in one day without feeling rushed at all. Sintra was magical, Cascais was perfect for a lunch break, and Belém blew me away. The pastéis at the original bakery were still warm. Our guide knew everything and made it feel personal, not like a tour at all."

Viator Review
★★★★★

"We've done a lot of tours over the years and this was one of the best. Tiny group, fantastic guide, and the route made so much sense — we saw the whole region in one go. Belém at the end was a highlight. The Jerónimos Monastery is one of the most beautiful buildings I've ever seen."

★★★★★

"Perfect introduction to the Lisbon region. I did this tour on my first full day and it gave me such a great orientation. Dyego was wonderful — enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and funny. The pastéis at the end were honestly the best I've ever had. Coming back to do the wine tour next time."

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this tour include Pena Palace interior entry?
The price includes the Pena Palace exterior and gardens ticket (skip-the-line). The palace interior is optional at approximately €14 extra, payable on the day. Most guests find the gardens and exterior more than enough — the views over Sintra and out to the Atlantic are extraordinary.
Is the Pastel de Belém tasting included?
Yes — tasting at Pastéis de Belém is included. This is the original bakery in Belém, open since 1837, where the recipe (still secret) was born. You'll taste the warm pastéis fresh from the oven with cinnamon and icing sugar, with your guide explaining the history behind them. This is not a generic tourist café — it's the real thing.
Are Belém Tower and Jerónimos Monastery interiors included?
The guided exterior visits to both are included. Jerónimos Monastery interior entry (approx €10) is optional and available to purchase on the day. The exterior and cloisters facade are arguably the most impressive part — the UNESCO listing is largely for what you can see from outside.
Can I book this as a private tour?
Yes — every tour is available as a fully private experience for your group, whether it's a couple, a family, or a larger group. Message us on WhatsApp to discuss dates and private pricing.
What is the cancellation policy?
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the tour start time. We're flexible in genuine circumstances — just message us on WhatsApp and we'll sort it out. No forms, no fuss.
